The VS Code dev team revealed in a post that 'VS Code was originally written with a mix of JavaScript and TypeScript but we quickly adopted TypeScript for all of our code and immediately got attached to its improved tool support like static type checking and refactoring. The findings are not that surprising as the VS Code is super popular and has been constantly ranking high in other surveys as well like that conducted by GitHub and Rust. Rather remarkable, however, that Panic's Nova editor has gathered quite some friends, considering it is still very new.' In the same way, the dominance of Visual Studio Code was to be expected. Tower stated that 'With lots of Swift developers in our community, it's no surprise that Xcode is so popular. The findings reveal that over 57% of the respondents use Visual Studio Code, 34% use Xcode, followed by Sublime Text with 15% respondents preferring it and IntelliJ at 13% respectively. As per a recent survey by Tower, Visual Studio Code which is Microsoft’s cross-platform, open-source text editor is preferred by Mac developers, beating Apple’s own text editor Xcode.
